A GREAT Christmas Card Tradition

(trying to get a good family photo to send in our Christmas cards -yesterday)

We received our first Christmas card in the mail yesterday, and I was reminded of a wonderful, new tradition for our family…

To pray for each individual represented by the cards we receive.

I had never thought of that before! But last year, at a women’s event, someone shared it and my family immediately implemented it!

And, let me just say, that was one of my FAVORITE memories from last Christmas… sitting around the dinner table each evening reading a couple of cards/letters, looking at photos and praying as a family for those who lovingly mailed them our way. It was a sweet time shared together.

I am so thankful to have heard that idea! And I can’t wait to start praying for our friends in this way again!

Now, I just have to get my cards ready to send out, so others can have the joy of praying over our family (or at least smiling at our family photo). ; )

What about you? What are some of your spiritual traditions at Christmas-time? I’d LOVE to hear them!

(btw, if you’re interested I added the other family photos we took to the SomeGirl’s Website FB page … I’d LOVE to see you over there!)

That’s a great idea – and a wonderful family photo, with even a walk-in by the cat. Love it!!!

SomeGirl

LOL I loved the cat walk-in, too! (It’s not even our cat, just one that has adopted us as his family.) ;)

I love your family photo! You all look so happy. And I love your family tradition. So sweet!

Thanks, Eryn! ♥

LOL! It is hard to get a good family pic sometimes. We ended up doing a collage – pic of each of the kids then a pic of us as a couple. What a wonderful tradition to pray for those from the cards you receive! :)

SomeGirl

That’s exactly what I was thinking about doing (collage with individual/couple pics). Bet it looks great! Your family pic that your daughter took was wonderful, btw! :)

I lOVE your happy family photos, Michelle! And that is a GREAT Christmas card tradition! We have a special card tree for enjoying the cards and letters we receive throughout the Christmas season, but sitting around the table as a family and praying for the senders is truly special. I linked to your post at http://livingmontessorinow.com/2010/11/26/december-family-and-homeschool-activities/

Thanks, Deb (for the comment and link)! ♥

Thanks for sharing your idea! We’ll have to do that this year, as well. :)

I think you’ll really enjoy it! It’s a super sweet experience, especially when the little ones pray! :)
