About SomeGirl

Hi, I’m glad you’re here! I’d love for us to get to know each other! Let me start by telling you a little about myself…

It’s pretty simple.

I used to be… young. single. talkative. in debt (to my eyeballs). a kindergarten teacher. a second grade teacher. a pre-school teacher. a PTA president. a volunteer.  a college student. a red raider. a mean green eagle. a wild child. a difficult child. strong willed. separated from God. dead in my sins. cute. energetic. fun. popular. a perfectionist. the mascot. a yellow jacket. curious. defiant. pleasing. happy. smiley. bubbly. a server at Tia’s. a server at El Chico. an employee at Limited. a cashier. a hostess. a missionary. a children’s pastor. a Sunday school teacher. a VBS leader.  a spanish student. an ESL teacher. a roommate. a teenager. a child. and skinny.

Now I am… older. married. a mom (to 2 boys). tired. worn out. talkative. cute (when I try). sometimes energetic. fun loving, out of debt (praise God! and thanks to my wise husband!). a Dave Ramsey follower. a home-school teacher. a volunteer. a student of life. a word maker. an alumni. strong willed. good enough. not perfect. saved by grace. a child of God. a daughter of the King. curious. pleasing. happy. smiley.  a recovering perfectionist. sometimes frustrated. addicted to Coke (the soda). a BuenoHead. a TexMexaholic. a cook (not too often). a cleaner (when the housekeepers aren’t here). a wife. a sister. a daughter-in-law. a blogger. an adoptive mom. a Sunday school teacher. an activist (in some regards). a recycler. a composter. an adult. a friend. a believer. a home owner. and a little bit bigger. :)

You’ll get to know me more by looking through my posts and I’d love to get to know you through your comments (and blog if you have one…please leave a link so I can visit) in the hope that we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds! Now… Let the fraddling commence!

Hi Michelle!

I stumbled across your blog and it is beautiful! I love your post about being in a funk…and losing time in the Sonlight. I’m putting you on my list of sites to visit again and again.

Hi Mandy! Thanks for the kind comment! Somehow I missed replying to it… hate it when that happens. It was GREAT to have you visit and I’d LOVE to have you visit more! :)

Hey Michele,
Wanted to let you know I referred your website to a neighbor who is thinking of starting to home school her autistic son. I thought your cookie post would be encouraging to her. Thanks for posting it!

Hi Kelly! I was thinking about you just a couple of days ago wondering where you were (this is that Kelly, right?)! I hope the post is encouraging, I shared it with the hopes it would help someone else in the same, or similar, situation! :)

Hope you’re doing well! It’s GREAT to hear from you!

(oh, if this isn’t that Kelly, it’s GREAT to meet you!) :)

Wait… you have housekeepers??? seriously?? cool! And I have two boys and I homeschooled when they were, ahem, at home. :)

Haha… Just twice a month (every other Saturday), but I could go for more! ;) lol.

And how fun that we both have two boys and homeschool(ed)… Love knowing that! :)

I’m a homeschool mom, an author, and a wife. Thanks for sharing your life on your blog. :)

Aw, your comment warmed my heart… I had never thought of this as sharing my life on my blog, but it’s true. And thanks for being a part of my life online… it’s so nice to get to know you!

Found your blog through a twitter post, and so glad I did! I can relate very much to your bio, as a homeschooling Christian mom…I am in awe of how much God changed who I was into the woman I am today. Keep up the good work, I will be back!
Blessings, Christa

Thank you, Christa! So glad you found your way here (and that God is at the work of changing us)! I look forward to getting to know you! ♥ Michelle

Came across your blog on Facebook and I love it. Just a great reminder about how we are all so different, yet the same in the sense that we have all changed as we became mommies and wifes. Really thought-provoking stuff.

Thanks, Lizette! ♥ It’s great to have you here and I hope to see you around more! :)

We need your help to raise awareness

Last summer Amy Rae Elifritz went from being a healthy and happy 20 year old with her whole life ahead to losing her life in a matter of days . . . sadly, this could have been prevented.

Did you know that tampon related Toxic Shock Syndrome is real, relatively common, and can be deadly? Last summer when Amy experienced flu-like symptoms the fact that she was menstruating seemed unimportant. A few days later, on June 13, she died from Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).

Lisa Elifritz, Amy’s Mom, founded You ARE Loved to help raise awareness about the link between tampons and TSS with the goal of saving lives. This summer, our new non-profit organization is seeking to mobilize bloggers to help spread the message and is inviting you to write a blog post on this important topic.

I encourage you to read this note, check us out on Facebook and Twitter, read our informational brochure, view a two part story by the Indianapolis CBS affiliate WISH-TV (part 1 and part 2), see what others have done as a part of our blogging blitz (page of links), and also to do your own research.

When you write about TSS and You ARE Loved, please share the url so that we can include it on our links page.

Thanks in advance for considering the opportunity to partner with You ARE Loved in our effort to raise awareness about tampon related Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).

Sorry that you no longer follow me on twitter. You were about the only one who ever responded to me and I always knew a prayer came with it.

Michelle, I enjoyed your blog and I love your blog name!

As a Mom of 2 myself, much of what you said speaks to me!

I am glad to connect with you through the (in)courage writer’s group. I hope to get to know you better through our blogs.

Hi Michelle! I found you whil looking for information on photography. I have a beautiful 7 month old and want to learn how to take pictures instead of paying someone else to do it every 3 months. I love your information on photography and hope to learn more!

Karen Childress

Just found your blog through Amy Andrews mention of you on her blog. Love the photography advice! My daughter is an avid photographer and I am just learning. I’m a veteran homeschool mom who started blogging last summer. Glad to meet you.

Read about your life. Amazing the journey that you walk thru. Then found your prince to share your life with. wonderful and blessed with your little ones. It is good to share with so many.
Inspiring and motivating other to be alive and vibrant and God love flowing thru you and your family. Loving God and loving each other is the way to go. Many rewards become ours when we travel the path of life and light of his word within us. Making a difference where you are and following your dream to share with the whole world that tunes into your web page. So…enjoy your journey and many will follow you and what you have to say. You are a blessing!!! thank you for touching our life. Maybe you could write a book, one page at a time. On what you feel on the inside of you. Your prince also. The children probably have some idea to be more of a part of what you are doing. also. Staying focused on those things that are important and staying close to the one that loves you the most. He has all of our answers and will share if we ask, listen and follow his instructions then we become wiser in that we ask for his help. Yes!! You and your prince is sending out a lot of good ships out onto the table of life and blessing began to flow abundantly because you now think before you let words slip out of your mouth. Not sending out any anger ship…but only good ones. Sharing the gifts that are within you and letting others share with you is awesome. Proud of you. Look to see what other project is down on the inside of you and your family and your team on this your web site. Yes!!!! You are an inspiration and a joy to be around so continue to make a difference in all that you do. Ask the Lord to help you be like unto him, acknowledging him in all your ways and he will direct your pathway. Did you find the scripture where it says ” He daily loads us with benefits. Someone shared this golden nugget from his word. We are so blessed. Are we not? yes..
