Am I So Foolish? (Thought Provoking Thursday)

Here’s a verse that makes its way into my thoughts a lot lately. I felt a STRONG tug toward reading Galatians a couple of days after receiving my copy of Radical in the mail (and digging into it like crazy). This verse hit me hard and made me think. I’ve been wanting to share it here for awhile, but there always seems to be something else on my mind…

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?

Galatians  3:2-5

I don’t know how the timing of the verse and the book works, but I do know that my thoughts might have been leaning, slightly dangerously, toward attaining a closer relationship with God through human efforts… I want to love others out of, or because of, God’s GREAT love for me, not to try to earn more of God’s love.

Something to think about…

Btw, I’ll confess I’m running low on “thinking” energy… I have a friend going through a difficult time and I’ve spent most of my “thinking and praying” energy on her situation. I’d appreciate prayers for wisdom for her as a parent. Thanks! ♥ Michelle

this is a great post Michelle! I haven’t read Radical – must check it out!!

It’s really good, but I think I found myself starting to try to “earn” my relationship with God while reading it… be careful with that. :) Otherwise, it’s a wonderful book with great inspiration for Christian living! :)

Great post, Michelle! I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Thank you, Judy!! You are such a sweet, praying friend!! ♥ Michelle
