Giving and Praying for Others

In response to the recent earthquake, we wanted to show love to the people of Haiti by helping to provide clean drinking water for them.

If you’re like me and want to donate, but don’t have much extra money (particularly now that I got a speeding ticket the other day and opened last month’s electric bill), I’ll pass along what our family is  doing… we went through our house and found items to sale on craigslist and we’re sending the proceeds to an organization that provides clean water. I also wanted a way to let our children be a part of giving to help others. If you’re in the DFW area, check our items for sale on Craigslist:

  • Nice baskets with lids (didn’t sell)
  • Wooden rocking horse (didn’t sell)
  • Oil painting kit sold for $20
  • Graco pack n play sold for $15, but the buyer gave $25 to go to Haiti… Thank you, Lindsey!
  • Children’s picture books sold for $10, but the buyer gave $15 to go to Haiti… Thank you, Lindsey!

If you’re looking for a way to help the people of Haiti, donating to Living Water is one. Compassion International is another good source. And here are six more ways you can help Haiti (by Chris Sacca).

And…

Someone just shared this with me (from Cool Mom Picks):

“Haiti has been on our minds nonstop since the devastating earthquake last week, but now that donations have been made to some worthy charities, we are stuck with what else can we do?

What else? Donate shoes.

Soles4Souls has partnered with Foot Solutions to try to get as many gently-worn shoes to the people of Haiti. From little sneakers for a child, to sturdy work boots for an adult clearing rubble, all types of basic footwear are needed except probably snow boots. But, if you have those, send them along since Soles4Souls will be sure to find a home for those somewhere else.”

Praying for the people of Haiti.

Liz

This is so wonderful – and I’m so pleased the Soles 4 Souls post inspired you to host a shoe drive. (Speaking of good souls…)

Thank you for sharing it with me.

Thanks, Liz!
