Instructions for Life

In preparing for their first game, our littlest one’s soccer coach gave important instructions that went like this…

You’ll hear lots of voices out there while you’re playing.

There will be people cheering for you.

People telling you what to do.

People giving you directions.

But I want you to listen for my voice.

Listen for me so that you’ll know where to go.

I’ll tell you exactly what you need to do.

Just keep listening for my voice.

And it got me thinking…

In life you’ll hear lots of voices cheering for you and voices criticizing you. Loud voices.

People telling you where to go, what to do, and how to do it.

But you’re not out there on your own.

Aren’t we lucky? Our Father is our team coach!

We have to listen closely for HIS voice.

Listen for HIM so we’ll know where to go.

He’ll tell us exactly what we need to do.

We just have to keep listening for HIS voice.

Now, those are some GREAT instructions for life! Thanks, Coach Matt, for getting me thinking!

I LOVE this, Michelle. I needed it today. Shut everything else out and just listen for him, and I’ll be OK.

I just love it when that happens! Praying the other voices will fade to the background and you’ll be able to clearly hear His voice.

So very true…and helping our children learn that early….is so necessary. Michelle,I always enjoy your posts…you gently speak the truth….thank you!

You are right. There are so many different voices we hear throughout our days, but the voice we need to listen to is the Voice of Truth! He’ll never steer us wrong!

I really like that. So cool to learn spiritual lessons from random events in your children’s lives. :)

Thanks, Michelle, for the beautiful post! We must shut out the voices of defeat, distraction and temptation and listen to Him alone! I recently wrote a blog post, “When God Talks,” on a similar topic:

LOVE LOVE LOVE, sister! What a great analogy and I must say…He’s got the best record of any coach I’ve served.

Oh! That’s excellent! Thanks for the reminder.

So true. There are lots of voices that would like to speak into and direct our lives but we must adequate train ourselves to know and heed the master director’s voice.

it’s the second time I’ve read through this post – and I hearted it just as much – just listen for my voice… Just listen for my voice… So simple… So simple… And I so often forget. God bless and keep you Michelle, and God bless and keep each and every one of yours.

Wow, that was beautiful and a great reminder of how much noise is in the world.

God Bless
