Love for Others {Day Four}

by SomeGirl on October 4, 2011 · 12 comments

I had lunch outside in the cool breeze yesterday, watching my boys play, birds scavenge for food, cars go by, and people come in and out of the restaurant… all the while smiling inside at the thought of how much God loves me.

And then my lips and heart began to sing quietly, repeatedly…

Oh, how He loves me so

Oh, how He loves me

How He loves me so.

While singing tears welled up in my eyes and streamed down my cheek. Tears of joy. Refreshing tears of revival.

It was a beautiful moment of knowing I am loved, truly loved by my Creator and my Father.

I pray you’ve had similar experiences (and I’d LOVE to hear them!).

Then, I went to get my haircut and to do a little shopping at a store…

I walked in to both places knowing I was loved, feeling it deep in my soul. But I struggled a bit with thoughts about others… others who were talking a lot when I wanted a little quiet, others who were frustrated, others who weren’t helpful, others who seemed to be having a bad day… others.

And I realized…

That same love God has for me, with all my quirks and bad traits, He has that same love for them… for others.

It’s nothing new, but it’s something I haven’t thought about in some time – God loves them so! Oh, how He loves them. How He loves them so.

Oh, how I pray He will fill my heart and mind with HIS love for others!

I pray He will cause my heart to overflow with love for them, just as my heart overflowed with His love for me.

And I pray the same for you. Will you please join me in praying for that today?

If we start to think of others the way God thinks of them, we can’t help but love them.

And if we love them, revival is sure to spread!

Btw, I pray for you guys often during the day! Thank you for praying with me!

You are Good.

You are Merciful.

You are full of Compassion.

You have done Mighty things!

You are worthy of all our praise!

I confess that I have looked at others and thought unloving things about them… about Your children, the work of Your hands.

My heart has been hardened toward them, toward the ones You love with the same love You have for me and have filled my heart with song concerning.

Thank You for opening my eyes to that today.

Thank You for searching my heart and knowing me, loving me all the while.

Thank You for Your gentle correction and kindness that leads to repentance.

I pray you will fill my mind with thoughts of love and compassion for my neighbors, those who live near me and those who are on the road where I’m traveling, wherever that road might be.

Please fill my heart to overflowing with Your love for them.

May You be made known to all people through our love for them… love that comes only from You.

Cranberry Morning

When we think about who He is and who we are, it can’t help but bring the believer to her knees out of gratitude that our awesome, Creator-Savior would leave the glories of Heaven to come to earth to DIE for His people, to rescue us from our hopeless state of sinfulness. Praise to God! When we trust in Him, our sin is no longer held against us, but paid for in full by the blood of Christ. And then to think that we can simply hide in Him and know that God sees us through the righteousness of His Son!! Amazing grace!

Amen! Amazing, indeed!

To be aware of His presence with us and in us no matter where we are is such a key for the love of God to flow through us! Thank you Michelle for such an insightful post.

Thank you, Barbara. ♥

That was just beautiful, Michelle! You are such an inspiration to me! <3

I love you, Judy! Thank you!

Michelle, I had a smile on my face most of the day yesterday too, thinking about just how much God loves me. But you’re right, that same love He has for me, He has for others. And so many of them don’t know it. We need to love them like Jesus loves them so they can walk around with smiles on their faces.

Amen! Love that! “We need to love them like Jesus loves them so they can walk around with smiles on their faces.” :)

This is just beautiful. Your thoughts and words come together in such a heart grabbing way. I’ve been praying along with your prayers. What a blessing!

Thank you, Pamela! I’m so glad to have you praying along! :)

{Praying for you}

Great points here. Something to think (and pray) about!

What a great post! It always helps me be kinder when I remember to look at each person as God’s child.
