Note to Self (Thought-Provoking Thursday)

by SomeGirl on January 13, 2011 · 16 comments

I fell asleep with my head on my husband’s shoulder last night.

We were sitting on the sofa in our den each doing our own thing, side-by-side (reading and playing games on the iPad).

I had a cozy blanket to snuggle up in and a flickering fire in the fireplace warmed the room. It was so relaxing.

I woke up shortly after and made my way to bed.

While I was lying there a thought came to mind… A deep, inspiring thought. I chewed it over, pondered the deep meaning and worked it into a thought-provoking Thursday post with a clever beginning/end and great application…

I was nearly too consumed with the thought to go back to sleep, but I promised myself I’d have time to write it before enrichment classes this morning.

Oh, it was a wonderful thought to inspire and challenge…… I think.

But to tell you the truth, I can’t remember one piece of it! I can’t picture anything about it, but I do know it was JUST what I wanted to share today!

I guess there’s a reason the phrase, “I’ve slept since then” is in existence. :)

And now my mind is all over this:

And I sit here (in front of this pile) at enrichment classes preparing for my next class and sneaking in a little reading (and computer) time.

But, all is not lost… hopefully some of you have remembered your thoughts and written something inspiring, encouraging or challenging lately. If you have, or if you’ve read something you want to share, please link it here below. I’d LOVE to spread the word!

(And be sure to check back later to see what great links are listed!)

Now for a Note To Self: Put a notepad and pencil by the bed before next Thursday! ;)

I have those moments. I have great ideas and I forget them over night. Well actually I forget a lot of things, but we won’t talk about that.

Blessings to you my friend! I pray your planning is fruitful!

SomeGirl

Haha… you’re funny, Alicia! Blessings to you, too! ♥

(I’m still up!) lol

Rachel

Sounds like my brain lately!! haha!! You make me smile! =)

SomeGirl

Aw, you make me smile, too! (Seriously! I opened my email, saw your comment, read it and smiled really big! Love you, Girl! Thanks for that!)

I know the feeling all too well! I have a notepad and pen by my bed in case I wake up from an important dream, too. (I’m lucky to have a husband who’s a Jungian psychotherapist and can help me understand what any important dreams mean … a dream was partly responsible for my start in blogging, by the way!) If I have a blog idea, though, I usually try to go to my computer or write it down right away. Otherwise, it’s so frustrating how the great ideas can slip away, even in the middle of the day! I loved your image of being snuggled up in front of the fireplace with your husband, though – more important than any blog post!

SomeGirl

Thanks, Deb! Yeah, I’m taking a pad and pencil to bed with me tonight! That’s GREAT that your husband can help you with your dreams! I’ve had some weird ones in the past I would have loved to have someone to talk them over with and help me understand!

Rebecca

It is nice to know…I’m not the only one. I found your blog today…and am blessed by it!

SomeGirl

Aww… thank, Rebecca! That’s is SO sweet to hear! I hope to see you around more! ♥ Michelle

I, too, know that feeling. I often get up at night to write my ideas down (although then I’m up for awhile). My husband has a simpler suggestion, just keep a pen and paper by the bed, jot a word or two down to remind myself later. Looking forward to reading everyone’s posts!
Happy Weekend (almost)

SomeGirl

Happy Weekend to you, too!

Yeah, I knew if I would have gotten up I’d have been up forever! The pen and paper with a word or two is a great idea… taking a set to bed with me tonight! :)

Julie

Love this idea… Will definitely be trying to come back this weekend to read some here. Wish I had time tonight!

SomeGirl

I’ve been through half so far and they’re GREAT! Definitely worth the trip back! :)

Hope you didn’t mind my HUGE comment on yours… just couldn’t help myself! {{HUGS}}

oh my goodness, i know the feeling. my aunt calls them “senior moments” and i can’t claim that excuse! i seriously think that motherhood laid waste to my memory.

thanks for being such a gracious hostess. i look forward to reading others’ thoughts:)

SomeGirl

Yeah, motherhood has laid waste to lots of things for me! (memory, fashion, shopping…) ;)

Thanks for your kind words! I’m SO glad you joined the link up! Hope you enjoy the other posts! ♥

Cranberry Morning

LOL. That is so familiar to me!! When we are asleep or nearly asleep, our thoughts seem SO PROFOUND, so insightful, must be shared. Sometimes when we do remember those, when the bright light of common sense daylight shines on them – they’re not so profound after all. :-) BUT, just to be safe, think about keeping a notebook next to your bed in case those brilliant thoughts surface in the middle of the night.

SomeGirl

Haha…that is SO true! I finally started to remember my thoughts late last night and thought, “Hmm… What was so special about that?? ” ;) The bright light of commense sense daylight… Love it! :D
