Shooting Arrows of Faith and Love (Tea Time)

by SomeGirl on March 14, 2011 · 14 comments

I’ve REALLY been enjoying virtual tea with you guys these past few Tuesdays and have also been enjoying real tea with my sweet friend across the street each Thursday afternoon.  I’d highly encourage you to find time (or make time) this week to sit in person with a cup of tea and a friend. You’ll be SO glad you did!

(And let me add that I am WAY behind on replying to comments. I SO appreciate you sharing your thoughts here and LOVE reading what you have to say! I’ll get back to your comments asap!) ♥

This week’s wisdom from Sally Clarkson’s Mom Heart Conference… (see disclaimer below)

Moms in the past knew their purpose. Mothers of long ago knew that they were “shooting arrows of faith and love into future generations” – that what they did had an eternal impact.

We sometimes forget. At least, I know I do.

In general, our focus as moms tends to be short-minded. We spend a lot of time thinking about the “end results” -will they do well in school? go to college? get a good job? stay out of prison? ;)

But there is MUCH more to raising our children than that!

We desperately need to grab hold of that eternal perspective and build into our children’s lives  love and faith. Passing on God’s purpose for their lives – to love Him and serve Him.

Let’s rise up, “reclaim motherhood” and shoot arrows of faith and love into future generations!

“Dream big and pray big for your family legacy!”

“In your house are the future leaders of the next generation.”

What legacy do you want to leave?

Until next Tea Time (next Tuesday) when we look at some practical ways to build love and faith into our children, may you be continually mindful of your purpose in parenting. And remember…

“You can’t pass on what you’re not living.”

“You are either growing or you’re dying. Live passionately for His purposes!

Disclaimer: Most of what I share in this and future Tea Times came directly (or was gleaned) from the Mom Heart Conference hosted by Sally Clarkson. Where I quote directly from her or another speaker I will use quotation marks. In my haste to write down the great nuggets of truth shared with us I failed to write who said what, so my quotes will not be referenced. In other words, if you see something in quotes it was said by someone wise at the conference. ;)

Wonderful post, as always. I absolutely love that phrase “shooting arrows…” I need to find a way to remind myself of that one daily….. Thanks for all the wonderful Teatime conversations, friend. You rock.

Thanks, Shell! And thanks for having tea with me in real life!

Cranberry Morning

Such a good point, ‘You can’t pass on what you’re not living.’ Something to ponder daily!

Definitely! May we live what we say we believe! ♥

I desire to live this more so discussions of faith become more common place in my home.

May it be so! Praying for that with you. ♥

Pouring my last cup of coffee and tucking these truths in my heart!

Thanks for your sweet reminders!

What fun to have tea and coffee with you! The thought of it makes me smile! :)
