A Pleasing Thought Provoking Thursday

Here’s a verse I’ve been thinking on a lot lately… Galatians 1:10

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men?

If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Now, that’s definitely something to think about…

As a recovering people pleaser, I claimed this verse a long time ago. It is one of my favorites. ;0)

Girl, I’ve called myself a recovering perfectionist (which has helped so much in overcoming those tendencies), but never thought about being a recovering people pleaser… I’m going to start today! :) Thanks for taking the time to comment! ♥ Michelle

Haha. I’ve called it acceptance seeking, and I was right there with you guys. Now because of Christ’s grace I’ve learned to just be my weird old self and people can take it or leave it. LOL

Funny, I’ve never thought of that verse in regards to being accepted… I can see it though! I’ve had to use it in my life in the realm of trying to make everyone happy… pleasing everyone me (family, friends, etc), not wanting them to be disappointed… ugh! Hopefully I’ve have the release you’ve found! :)

Thanks for chiming in! ♥ Michelle

I’ve carried the people pleasing way beyond just wanting to please everyone else and felt responsible for the actions of and every thing that comes out of the mouths of the people I love, i.e., husband, kids, family, friends. I felt like anything they said or did reflected on me. In the recent past God has shown me that I’m only responsible for what I do and say. What freedom! That too has helped me to move into the recovering people pleaser stage in my life. Thanks for sharing this scripture, it gives me new insight.

Thanks for sharing how God’s worked in your life, Vicki! It’s so great to hear the freedom that’s come to you! May we all know the freedom from releasing our desire to please others… in whatever form it has taken in our lives. Thank you so much for sharing this! ♥ Michelle

Such a daily “giving-over.” As a blogger/writer/teacher, I so battle this. Wanting nothing more than to live for my Audience of One. Yet tempted to write or say that which will bring more accolades of man. Thankfully the Father keeps me close and faithfully convicts of man-pleasing thoughts.

Daily… yes! Funny you should write that about struggling with it as a blogger, because all day I’ve battled wondering if this post was too harsh or displeasing! (ironic, hu?) ;)

Thanks for the reminder that God is active in our lives and leading us toward righteousness!
