Spurring One Another on Toward Love and Good Deeds

by SomeGirl on March 2, 2010 · 10 comments

I realized today that I’ve never fully shared the purpose of this blog. My prayer and desire is that this will be a place where you and I can spur one another on toward love and good deeds… a place where we encourage each other to live and love intentionally. To put into practice  1 John 3:18  “… let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” I hope that when you come here you are encouraged by what you’ve read to do something good for or with someone because you love them.

I know that I am continually encouraged by your comments and blog posts. Just today I was inspired by the post Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! at How to be a Zen Mama Blog (who I wouldn’t have known had she not commented). Betsy shared a quote of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” I’ve thought about it all day and had a great discussion with my oldest son about gratitude because of that post. And, at the beginning of Lent, I was so impacted by the post To Glow in the Darkness at Percolating Practice that I decided to give up speaking any negative words about my children for Lent (and I plan to continue past then). I pray God will use this blog to make an impact as well.

So, in light of this purpose, I have made a decision… I hereby deem Fridays on this blog “Fraddling Fridays.” My hope is that during the week we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds and at the end of the week we can share how that went… share the ways we’ve intentionally loved others (or encourage each other in the ways we’ve failed). Heck, maybe we can even get together on Fridays and go fraddling! :)

I’ll be praying for you this week… I may not know who you are yet, but God does and I pray that He will show you the good works that He has prepared in advance for you to do. And I look forward to getting to know you as we share what we’ve been doing on Fraddling Friday!

Love,

♥Michelle (aka SomeGirl)

PS: Don’t forget that fraddling can be as simple as stopping what you’re doing to play ball with your little one, letting your husband spend time on his hobby, writing a note of encouragement to a friend, or selling things to donate money to a charity… it doesn’t have to be big, just intentional! See you Friday (and hopefully before that, too)! ♥

So, what do you think? Do you want to be a part of Fraddling Fridays? Do you have any good ideas in mind? Have any questions about the purpose of this blog? Or just something neat to share? Share it in the comment section below…

Wow, Michelle! I’m so glad I’ve stumbled onto your blog! I LOVE what you decided to give up for Lent, too…it convicted me to the core to do the same thing (even if I’m getting a late start on it)!

I LOVE that Dr. Suess quote, too! :)

I look forward to meeting you at Relevant! Have a great weekend!
