Putting Feet to Our Faith

Hi! If you’re coming here from Gather Inspirit, please visit my Relevant Post by clicking here. Thanks! ♥

Last week, I quoted someone saying, “There are 168.8 million needy children…  Seems like a big number? It shouldn’t, b/c there are 2.1 BILLION people on earth who profess to be Christians. If only 8 percent of those Christians would care for just ONE of these needy children, they would all be taken care of.” Then I encouraged us to remember the new commandment Christ has given us… to love one another.

“You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving…”   – Amy Carmichael

Dawn, from 5 Kids and a Dog, left a great comment saying that her pastor calls this “putting feet to our faith.” I love that word picture! It hasn’t left my mind since she wrote it.

As I’ve said before, “my prayer and desire is that this will be a place where you and I can spur one another on toward love and good deeds… a place where we encourage each other to live and love intentionally. To put into practice  1 John 3:18  “… let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” I hope that when you come here you are encouraged by what you’ve read to do something good for or with someone because you love them.”

So, this has me thinking… I’m not talking to those who are looking for faith right now, faith comes by believing alone… not by works. But, to those of us who have been called by His name, to those of us who profess to be believers, to those of us that have taken on the role of Ambassador of Christ…. Let’s Do Something! Let’s love as Christ called us to love! Let’s care for the needy, give to the poor, feed the hungry, minister to the wounded of heart, body and soul, let’s make a difference in this world in Christ’s name! Let’s put feet to our faith! Let’s be about Kingdom Work and show the world that we are His disciples by our love! Let’s don’t just talk about Jesus;  let’s act like Jesus!

I’m challenging us to PUT FEET TO OUR FAITH! To pray and think DAILY of how we can LOVE others with Christ’s love… to be intentional with the life and love He’s given us. Let’s not let the words of one of my non-christian friend be true, that he is more Christ-like than most Christians he knows. Let’s be more Christ-like and LOVE others!

I’m looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in and through us as we start Putting Feet to Our Faith! May God be glorified!

If you’re a blogger who wants to be a part of the challenge and be encouraged by other like-minded/like-hearted bloggers and readers, start praying and looking for opportunities to put feet to your faith, blog about it anytime during the week, then link up here on Friday (because putting feet to your faith is fraddling, you know). Let’s spur one another on toward love and good deeds! Grab a button for your sidebar if you’d like!  ♥

Right on as usual…..

Some Girl

I just love it when you comment! :) Thanks, John!

I have to tell you, though I have always thought about adoption, you definitely fueled the flame. I’ve come to the point I believe so passionately about it I couldn’t marry someone who didn’t want to adopt. I appreciate the capacity you have to love… I wouldn’t be surprised if one day I drove up to your house and it was overflowing with all 168.8 billion children who needed love!

Some Girl

Girl, I’d need a WHOLE LOT of babysitters with that many children! lol

I can’t wait to see what God does in and through you, Shea! ♥ Michelle

Great post, Michelle! Just perfect. I’m not sure that I have enough time where I could participate for today – I wish I saw this earlier and that I had more energy. But perhaps if you have another day in which you plan to do a link up post I’d be able to then. I’ve been thinking of you. Things have been crazy and I’ve been a bit MIA the past week or so but …… I’m back! :)
