Watch Out World! We’re Getting RADICAL!!!

Warning: I’m reading books and getting passionate…

So, I found this great new book at Lamp Unto My Feet. I loved the description and went to download a free sneak-peek of chapter 1. I normally HATE reading, but by page 5 I nearly begged my husband to order the book (although it didn’t take much persuasion since he is a reader). I sat in bed reading and made it through the first chapter in no time. It left me HUNGRY for more! I want to live radically for God… To do what He has called me to do… to love Him and love others.

Man, if you thought I was “out there” before wait ’til you see me now!

Here’s some of what I read:

It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily…

But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

Do you and I believe him enough to obey him and to follow him wherever he leads, even when the crowds in our culture – and maybe in our churches – turn the other way?

I want to be part of a people who are risking it all for him. For the sake of more than a billion people today who have yet to even hear the gospel, I want to risk it all. For the sake of twenty-six thousand children who will die today of starvation or a preventable disease, I want to risk it all…

BTW, for my fellow bloggers, something struck me concerning blogging as I read. Jesus spent the majority of his time with 12 men and when he left this earth he had around 120 followers. In blogging terms, that’s like having 12 daily readers and 120 followers. That puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?

And…

Through their radical obedience to him [Jesus], he turned the course of history in a new direction.

Now, I ask:

Are we ready to risk it all?? Are we ready to change the world??!! Let’s BE the church!! Let’s live Radically!

At the same time, let’s not forget that it is by faith we are saved, not works. As I read last night in Galatians chapter 3 verse 3…  “Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?” Let’s not “do” and “be” on our own, but “do” and “be” as He leads!

Watch out world! We’re getting RADICAL!!!

Wow! What a great book!! I want that desire to live RADICALLY!! What’s awesome is that the Lord DESIRES to use us!! Praying for you today! ;)

SomeGirl

That is awesome! I’ve been praying for you, too! But if you’ve been praying for patience… please STOP!!! ;) I’ve had enough patience producing experience with my children to last the whole year! lol (but seriously… they’re driving me CRAZY!!!!!) ;)

And, thanks for leaving a comment!!

SomeGirl

Ooops… that goes against my commitment to not say anything negative about my children. Sorry about that! I’d just erase it, but it was already e-mailed as a reply… I’ll remember that next time. :)

Sounds like a great book, Michelle! I’m going to have to check it out.

How do you find time in your day to do all you do???? :)

SomeGirl

Lol… am I stressing you out? :) I told a friend recently that I had cut back a lot since I moved and she was so surprised… maybe I drink too many cokes! ;)

Seriously, though, I was thinking about blogging about the time issue sometime this week! Maybe I’ll do it tonight or tomorrow…

Thanks for your comments! ♥
