Praying for Revival: A Sense of Compassion {Day Three}

by SomeGirl on October 2, 2011 · 7 comments

Before we get started with Day 3 of our 31 Days of Prayer for Revival, I thought I’d give you a little peek into our weekend (just for fun)…

We had a great time helping my sweet friend, Michelle from, raise awareness and money for research to help find a cure for cancer through our local Relay for Life. I didn’t stay the whole night, but my oldest represented the family and stayed up until ALL hours of the night with Michelle’s oldest… we’re making up for that today. ;) (See more photos here, if you’d like.)

Thank you, Michelle, for all that you did to make this event so fun and such a success (and for inviting us to be a part)!

With this wonderful, purpose-filled event in my mind, I’d like to take today to encourage us to pray for God to give us a strong sense of compassion for others.

He’s put us all in different areas, placed us all among different people, given us varied talents, interests, and opportunities for interaction.

He has done all of this for a reason.

There are no mistakes in God’s plan.

It is not by coincidence that you live and work by the people you do.

I pray God will awaken in us a mighty outpouring of compassion for those He’s put in our lives and others around the world.

May His stirring of compassion in us bring about a mighty change in our lives and the lives of others all over the world!

I also pray that God will place these thoughts in your head all day long, and when you have this thought of the need for compassion I pray you would give that thought to God and ask Him what He’d like you to do with it. (Don’t you love how I pray for nagging thoughts for you? Don’t worry, I’m praying the same for myself, too.) ;)

“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8

Compassionnoun. The humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it; motivated by mercifulness – a disposition to be kind and forgiving.

I pray that You would fill our hearts with compassion for those around us. Those who have unmet needs.

I pray You would open our eyes to the needs we can meet and stir our hearts to action.

You’ve given each one of us different talents, gifts, interests…

May You show us how to use those things to help others in order to show Your love to them.

May You press on our hearts and minds the names of people You want us to minister to with compassion.

May You guide us.

May Your Great Name be made known as we reach out in compassion to the ones You love and have put into our reach.

May You continue to bring revival to our hearts and may it start to spread to those around us.

I’d HIGHLY recommend you check out what I’m reading and LOVING!!! Click this button below…

Motivated by mercifulness – love that! That’s how I want to live today. Father, break my heart for what breaks yours and help me to see those around me through your eyes. Amen!

Amen. I almost wrote the same thing… to pray for God to break our heart for what breaks His. So glad you prayed that here… May it be, Lord!

(Thanks, Lisa!)

A lot of us Michelle’s around!

I was listening to Gloria Copeland and Billye Brim this morning. It seems Billye has a live online prayer webcast every day at noon central time. God is obviously calling us to pray more! We’re lining up.

Very popular name, isn’t it? :)

And isn’t it exciting to think of what God’s at work doing?! It gets my heart pumping!

Hi Michelle,
I love what your doing! By doing something for yourself, you are helping others going through the same thing! Bravo!! Compassion is my favorite so far! But I see forgiveness… how to chose! While I might not always comment, I’m reading and I’m with you all 31 days!!

Your comment means the world to me… thank you!! xoxo

I’m SO glad you’re with me for this series and I’ll be praying for you, too! I love you, my sweet friend who I cannot wait until I get to meet in person! :)

Boy… I have a lot to pray about tonight…. ;)
