I am SO glad to report that many children, women and men will have adequate footwear in Haiti thanks to the love and generosity of my sweet friends, neighbors and church. We all gathered gently worn shoes from our closets, our friends and our coworkers and brought them together over the last week to donate to the people of Haiti through Soles4Souls. The closest drop off, that didn’t involve multiple trips inside and upstairs at a mall with a 2-year-old, was The Runner in Arlington, TX. The people behind the counter were taken back by the amount of shoes we were donating… hundreds of pairs! I was surprised at the lack of shoes that hadn’t already been donated… the tall, thin box that was there to accept donations wasn’t filled much at all. I had envisioned a huge donation site with TONS of shoes overflowing with love!… but what I found seemed as if no one knew about the drive. I was also surprised that I was able to donate 10 pairs of shoes from my closet that I don’t wear and wouldn’t mind giving away… 10 pair! And I still have a good half-dozen left for me (something seems weird about that). Anyway, if you happen to read this, please pass the word about the shoe drive…

btw… Soles4Souls has The Runner listed as a drop off site, but they say they’re collecting for A Helping Hand in Rockwall… both are sending the shoes to Haiti (I haven’t checked on this, but I wonder if they might be partnering together).

I love this! I would love to work for Soles4Souls after I graduate :) Wonderful blog!
Thanks, Nicole. Working for Soles4Souls would be great! They also let people come along to deliver shoes… I would love to do that!
Soles$Souls is an amazing charity! I know Wayne Elsey personally, his passion and commitment inspiring.
Soles4soles. I need to learn to type
I just checked out his site WayneElsey.com. He seems like a really neat guy… I knew I liked the cause, but now it’s nice to know more about the man behind it. Thanks, Billy!
You are quite welcome.
