A little over a year ago I saw a picture of a friend’s “Laundry Art” and thought it was the GREATEST idea! She saves everything she finds in her dryer and adds it to a collage on a bulletin board in her laundry room.
Since reading that, I’ve been collecting things I’ve found in a small container above the dryer. Now I’m ready to make my own collage. I thought it would be fun to share with you guys (and even more fun to do the intro in video format). I’ll post pictures of the finished product below. Hope you enjoy it!
(not the best recording, but hopefully fun to watch… a true home video) ;)
I
Haha… I know it didn’t sound like it, but I REALLY am glad you guys are here! There’s just something weird about talking to a video camera and ending a recording… but imagine me saying that with more enthusiasm! lol
So, here’s how it turned out (I’ll add more to it when the container over the dryer is full again). Something neat I learned from another friend is to set metal letters on top of picture frames like this one. I LOVE it!

*note there are 3 cell phones and one day I’ll have to add my drivers license and gym card. I will confess that I’m not good at checking pockets in general, but I’m really not good now that I know there’s the possibility of a treasure at the end of the wash… I get excited every time I find a new thing (makes doing laundry more fun)! ;)
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite rooms in the house (the mudroom).

Extra : Having been the same age as my oldest when my little brother was born, I valued making him feel special as the big brother when our youngest came into the family. So, I took prints of both boys’ feet to hang. :)

Thanks for stopping by! Happy iFellowship Wednesday!
Love,
♥ Michelle (aka SomeGirl)

That was a cute video & a really neat idea! I’d have numerous chapstick tubes, thumb drives, and peppermint wrappers in ours.
m :)
Thumb drives… haven’t done that one yet, but peppermint have gone through way too often! ;) (didn’t save those for fear of ants) lol
This is super fun and creative! Real life is art!
Thanks Michelle,
Stacey
Thanks, Stacey! ♥ Michelle
(I still can’t believe I’ve missed out on so much at 29Lincoln Avenue! I thought you had become swamped with the MOD squad and hadn’t been updating your blog… too funny!)
Wow! Talk about finding a lot of things in the washer. Did you find any lost socks? I’m looking for some. LOL! :D
Hahaha… that’s too funny! Where do those socks go????!!! (and those tupperware lids!) lol
Okay I have to admit the three cell phones cracked me up! Ours would have a cell phone, a lot of change, and my husband wallet (at least 5 times!)
Hahaha… so you’re saying you launder money at your house, hu? ;) Glad I’m not the only cell phone washer around! lol Thanks for taking the time to comment! ♥ Michelle
How fun! And what a capture of real life!
Came to you throuh iFellowship from thepurplehound.blogspot.com and prairiestormdesigns.blogspot.com

Thanks, Sarah! It’s GREAT to have you here today! Hope you’ll stop by again! ♥ Michelle
(I look forward to visiting your blog in the morning… time has gotten away from me this evening – date night. Can’t wait to get to know you more! Happy iFellowship Day!)
wow a lot in your dryer lol. My husband is obbessed by checking our pockets but if anything does get through it is usually tissues which end up all over our clothes and you can guess it will be a dark load.
I love your laundry it is so cool. My home is so tidy. I love the word art too xxx
Oh, tissue on dark clothes is one of the worst (especially on polar fleece)!
Yeah, that’s a lot, hu? But I love the idea so much I don’t check pockets just to see what will show up… makes laundry more fun for me (and I need all the help with that I can get!). ;)
Thank you, btw!
♥ Michelle

Girl, you have a crazy amount of stuff! Wow!! I don’t have nearly that volume of stuff coming through my laundry. Mostly just hubby’s random tool parts or keys to the shop. Even those are pretty few and far between.
I love this idea though. Thinking of a way to tweak it to work for us.
Thanks for sharing!
Hahaha… Crazy! lol When I heard about this idea I decided not to even check pockets at all just to see what I’d get. And I LOVE it! Every time I find something new I get excited. :) Cheesy, hu? But whatever makes laundry fun, right? ;) lol
Btw, I know I told you this on twitter, but I LOVE what you did with your closet “junk”! ♥
That’s the funny part…I rarely check pockets, and still hardly have anything come through. But as you could see, we have an ABUNDANCE of stuff that’s always on the floor! :)
Boys haven’t seen it yet. Not sure how they’re going to take it…
That is such a cool idea–of course, my memory box would be full of Legos and Barbie hairbrushes…Happy iFellowship day!
Legos and Barbie hairbrushes… I love it! Just the thought makes me sentimental… one day those Legos and whatknot will be gone… *sniff, sniff*
Oh, sorry about that… must be left over Toy Story in me. ;) lol
Btw, your blog post on Twilight type movies was the hit of our dinner discussion tonight… very thought provoking. Thanks for that! ♥ Michelle
I love the footprint picture!!! Way cool! And the piece above it.
Thank you, Amy! Yeah, I loved that piece above it when I saw it at a friend’s house… I don’t normally go out and buy things like that, but I made a special trip just for it. ;) Thank you again! ♥ Michelle
(Btw, I look forward to visiting your blog in the morning… time has gotten away from me this evening – date night. Can’t wait to get to know you more! Happy iFellowship Day!)
I just LOVE so many things about this post….the video (love hearing your voice), the project (such a cute idea), your mudroom (so cute!), just to name a few!! Happy iFellowship Day! =)
Thanks, Rachel!! You’re always SO sweet!! What a GREAT encourager!! Thank you and Happy iFellowship Day to you, too! ♥ Michelle
LOVE your dryer art! That is an amazing amount of stuff. ; )
I’m afraid I wouldn’t have much to put together a collage – I check pockets pretty thoroughly. What doesn’t make it into the dryer would consist of 6-yr old son’s pocket detritus: sand, rocks, a found penny. In a collage, someone would probably ask me why I had framed a bunch of dirt. It would be a conversation starter at the least.
I’ll have to watch the video when I get home tonight.
Have a great rest o’ the day. : )
Oooh, I could see a bowl or jar of sand, rocks and pennies sitting somewhere on a shelf… that would be neat! :)
Hope you had a GREAT day! ♥ Michelle
I love your site! That laundry art was amazing! My Tuesday blog at http://cfoxes33.blogspot.com was about finding chewing gum in my clothes from the washer!
Have a blessed day!
Thank you, Cheryl! I look forward to reading your post about finding chewing gum in the washer! :) Thanks for taking the time to comment! ♥ Michelle
Cute! I love this idea! I’m soooo going to do this! Thanks for visiting my blog today! Breath prayers – I love it! Can I copy that as well! What a great way to bring “pray without ceasing” current! have a great wednesday!
Thanks, Penny! Copy anything you’d like… I LOVE to share! :) Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! I hope to see you around here again! ♥ Michelle
Love this idea! I usually find chapstick (always mine) and dimes…apparently people don’t like to lose too much change. Though I have washed my husband’s wallet twice! : )
Hahaha… you’re the second one to confess to laundering money today! ;) lol
When I find change in the dryer I like to tell myself that I’m getting paid to do the laundry… anything to make the job more enjoyable! :)
Hope you’re feeling well and have had a GREAT day! ♥ Michelle
Hi, Stopping by from ifellowship! What a great idea!! Blessings on your day!
Thank you, Katharine! Hope you’ve had a WONDERFUL iFellowship Wednesday! ♥ Michelle
What a great idea! I am always finding Legos in the wash. Although that is getting less and less. I think I will miss them when I no longer find them. Life is moving too fast!
Life does move too fast! Let’s cherish those Legos while we have them! :)
It’s GREAT to see you, btw! ♥ Michelle
I love your video, Michelle—it was fun seeing you “in person”! And I absolutely love your mudroom. What a great way to personalize it. Putting metal letters at the top of photo frames is a great idea to know about for many types of photos!
Thanks, Deb! Your words are always so kind and encouraging! Thank you!
And I’m glad to be able to share neat things I find (hey, that reminds me of you… sharing neat things). :)
♥ Michelle

Love this, Michelle! And I, too, LOVE the words over the footprints art.
Thanks, Kelly! :)
Just catching up on blog reading. I LOVE this!! so cute!! I love your laundry room too. I always want to decorate mine, but it is always cluttery. Love the hand print thing too!!
Thank, Maggie!! But I have to confess that’s not my laundry room, just a mud room off my kitchen. My laundry room is a MESS!! But, I’m working on it! ;)
Now, I need to go catch up on blog reading… starting with yours! :)
♥ Michelle
A mud room {jealous sigh}…..
What a great idea- I now wish that we had a mud room:) I am so happy I stumbled upon your blog- I look forward to your posts!
Jessica
OMGosh Jessica, I just visited your blog and LOVE it… I’m adding it to my blogroll right now! I’m so happy you stumbled upon my blog, too! :)
Btw, I’ll comment there, but writing to our Compassion children has been on my to do list for weeks now… I’m going to use your tips this week! Thank you! ♥ Michelle
haha! That’s fabulous. I bet your kids love it!
Funny enough, my oldest just found it this weekend and said, “Hey! There’s my ______ and _________ and ________” And had fun looking at things. :) I didn’t know how they’d respond… until this craft my little treasures were hidden behind a cabinet door. ;) lol
