The Source {Day Twenty-Seven}

It rained at our house this past weekend. I didn’t realize it until I drove down the road and saw that my normal route was closed due to flooding. As I made my way around a curve and up a hill that I don’t normally travel, I noticed a stream flowing down the side of the street. It was such a neat stream that I stopped to take a picture…

As I drove on up the hill, I started thinking about that lovely, rapidly flowing stream….. What spiritual analogy did it represent in life?

Was it that it was flowing from the top of the hill down, and we as leaders need to have “water” (revival) flowing from us down…hmmm…

Then, at the top of the hill, I looked and there was no water. Which caused me to wonder, “Where did that water come from??!”

And so, as I had done earlier, I pondered… “What spiritual analogy did it represent in life?”

I drove on to my intended destination then made my way back, intentionally driving the same neighborhood to search out the source of that water.
I chose to drive the next street over, certain to discover it. Yet nothing was to be found…. The ground was dry.

In my curiosity, wonder and amazement, it hit me…. The spiritual analogy.

When we are so full of life, joy, peace, love, revival, “water”, people see it and want to know, really want to know, where does it come from? What’s the source?

I pray today that we would be ready with an answer for any searching soul. That they might know that the source of our life-giving water is our personal relationship with God out of whom all good things flow. And that they can freely know Him through faith in His son Jesus Christ who died for their sins and rose from the dead, so that they might have life, and have it abundantly. May our lives be so flowing with revival that those around us can’t help but seek The Source.

May God be glorified through our lives, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Something to think about.

………………..

Father,

You are the life giver, out of You flow streams of living water.

You fill our souls with life and love and peace.

We have lived in a dry and weary land too long. There are people all around us living in dry and weary lands.

I pray, Father, that Your life-giving water would flow so strongly, so powerfully, so rapidly from our lives that the people around us are stopped dead in their tracks and filled with such curiosity and wonder that they seek the source of that water in our life.

May Your spirit give us the words to speak in those situations.

May You be glorified in our lives.

Amen.

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” – Psalm 63:1 NIV

What a beautiful statement: “May God be glorified through our lives, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” What a perfect time to attend the Relevant Conference – during your 31 days of prayer for revival! I’ll enjoy reading about the uplifting experiences at Relevant, Michelle! :)
